Fiber Optic HDMI for Long-Distance 4K Runs

The Ugreen HD178 HDMI cable carries HDMI 2.0 signals across 40 metres using active optical conversion. Four glass fibre cores and seven tinned copper conductors handle the link. Gold-plated Type A plugs terminate each end.

Bandwidth reaches 18Gbps, supporting 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz, 2560 x 1440 at 144Hz and 1080p at 240Hz. The cable passes 48-bit colour depth and 4:4:4 chroma sampling. HDCP 2.2 covers protected content, and HDR10 metadata travels intact. Audio formats include LPCM, AC-3, DTS, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Atmos.

The assembly draws under 250mW from the source HDMI port. No external power supply or injector is required. Directional labelling marks the source and display ends. The TPE jacket measures 4.2mm in diameter and pulls through 20mm conduit. Operating temperature spans 0°C to 45°C, while storage tolerates -15°C to 75°C.
