Pocket-Size Alcohol Hand Gel

The Hygenix hand sanitiser is a 100 ml gel supplied in a flip-top bottle for pocket, desk and bag carry. The formulation uses 70% v/v ethanol as the active agent and meets the alcohol concentration range recommended for hygienic hand disinfection. A gelling polymer holds the liquid on the palm so it spreads without running off the fingers.

Glycerin acts as a humectant and offsets the drying effect of repeated alcohol exposure. The gel leaves no tacky film once the alcohol evaporates, so staff can handle keyboards, scanners and tools immediately after use. The 100 ml bottle fits inside a jacket pocket, a laptop bag side pouch or a vehicle door bin, and the cap seals against leakage during transport.

Application follows the standard six-step hand rub: dispense a coin-sized volume into a dry palm, then cover palms, backs of hands, finger webs, thumbs and fingertips. Rub until the surface dries, which takes roughly 20 to 30 seconds. Do not wipe the hands on a cloth after application; the drying phase carries the antimicrobial action. Use the product on visibly clean hands and reserve soap and water for hands carrying soil, grease or food residue.

Store the bottle upright below 25 °C and away from open flame, sparks and direct sunlight. The gel is flammable while wet, so keep it clear of hot engine parts and braai surfaces. Close the cap firmly after each use to limit alcohol evaporation. Do not decant into unlabelled containers, and keep out of reach of small children. Dispose of the empty bottle through normal plastic recycling where facilities accept HDPE.
