The wax blend typically includes carnauba and beeswax, which together produce a hard film after buffing. Carnauba raises the melting point of the coating and adds water resistance, while beeswax improves spreadability and flexibility on the leather. The pigment load is matched to a light brown shade, so repeated application deepens colour without turning the leather dark.

Application follows three steps: wipe dust from the upper with a dry brush, work a thin layer of cream into the leather with a cloth, then buff with a horsehair brush after the solvent flashes off. A 50 ml tin covers roughly 20 to 30 full-shoe applications on a pair of low-cut shoes. The cream suits calfskin, cowhide and corrected-grain leather but is not intended for suede, nubuck or patent finishes.

Store the tin closed at room temperature and away from direct sunlight. Solvent evaporation thickens the paste over time, so replace the lid firmly after each use. Do not apply the cream near open flame or while smoking, because the solvent base is flammable. Test on a hidden panel first when treating an unfamiliar leather finish. A tin stored correctly remains workable for several years.
