Heavy-Duty Canvas Shelter for Field Deployment

The Bushtec BUSH-8 is an eight-person bow tent built from ripstop canvas with a steel frame. It uses a double-layer roof and a full-coverage flysheet for weather protection. The fabric meets CPAI-84 flame retardant standards.

The tent body measures 4.2 m by 3.6 m with a 2.1 m centre height. A steel bow frame with 25 mm poles forms the structure, and guy lines anchor to steel pegs. The ripstop canvas weighs 340 gsm and carries a polyurethane coating on the inner face. A sewn-in groundsheet uses 510 gsm PVC.

Ventilation runs through two rear windows and a ridge vent. The front door includes a mesh screen and a canvas storm flap. The flysheet extends 600 mm over the entrance to form a small verandah. Packed dimensions are 110 cm by 35 cm by 35 cm, and the complete kit weighs 48 kg. Deployment needs two people and takes roughly 25 minutes.

The canvas bow tent suits base camps, field kitchens and temporary accommodation. The frame sections use a push-button locking system and colour-coded poles. All seams are double-stitched and taped on the flysheet. A repair kit and a canvas pole bag ship with the tent.

Ground clearance sits at 150 mm under the tub floor, which limits water pooling after heavy rain. The 25 mm steel poles carry a powder coat that resists rust in coastal deployments. Guy line anchors use brass sliders, and the peg set includes 12 steel spikes. A rear storage pocket keeps small tools off the floor.
