Food-grade polyethylene suits potable water storage. The material resists mild chemicals and does not corrode. The blue-grey colour reduces algae growth compared with clear tanks. The tank weighs about 9 kg dry, so one technician can position it before filling.

Route the filler neck clear of body panels and add a breather to prevent vacuum lock on pump-fed systems. Insulate exposed runs in cold climates. Drain the tank before long storage periods and leave the lid open to dry the interior.
