The USB to HDMI Adapter links a computer’s USB Type-A port to a monitor, projector or television over HDMI. It outputs up to 1920 x 1080 at 60Hz and carries stereo audio on the same link. The unit adds a second screen to laptops that lack a spare video output.

A USB 3.0 host link runs at 5Gbps and falls back to USB 2.0 without a settings change. The onboard controller holds 128MB of DDR SDRAM as a frame buffer. Output follows HDMI 1.3b signalling with EDID read-back, so the source matches the display’s native timing. Supported modes include 480p, 576p, 720p and 1080p.

The converter draws power from the USB bus and needs no external supply. A 15cm pigtail keeps the HDMI socket clear of adjacent ports on crowded laptops. The ABS housing measures 55 x 45 x 15 mm and operates from 0°C to 40°C. Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 drivers install from the bundled media.
