Description
Active USB 2.0 Extension for Long Cable Runs
The Ugreen US121 active cable extends a USB 2.0 host port by five metres and holds a 480 Mbps signalling rate across the full run. An FE1.1s repeater re-drives the differential pair inside the cable, so the host enumerates a compliant device instead of a degraded line. Plug-and-play operation needs no driver install.
The assembly terminates in a USB Type-A male plug and a USB Type-A female socket. Oxygen-free copper conductors carry power and data, and aluminium-mylar foil plus a braid layer reject EMI from nearby power cabling. The 5.5 mm outer jacket combines PVC and ABS for flex resistance in trunking and under-desk trays.
The repeater draws its current from the host port, so no external supply is needed. Backward compatibility with USB 1.1 and 1.0 covers legacy peripherals. Deploy the lead for printers, barcode scanners, webcams and licence dongles where the chassis port sits out of reach. Do not chain two active segments in series.
Key Features
FE1.1s Repeater Chipset
Re-drives the USB 2.0 differential signal mid-cable to offset five metres of conductor loss.480 Mbps USB 2.0 Throughput
Sustains the full High-Speed signalling rate for bulk transfers to storage, printers and capture hardware.Shielded Copper Construction
- Oxygen-free copper cores lower resistive drop over the 5 m span.
- Aluminium-mylar foil plus braid blocks EMI from mains and PSU cabling.
- Gold-plated contacts resist oxidation across repeated mating cycles.
Bus-Powered, Driverless Operation
Takes current from the host port and needs no adapter or software package.Cross-Platform Host Support
Works with Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS hosts that expose a standard USB 2.0 port.

What’s in the Box
Ugreen US121 USB 2.0 Type-A male to female active extension cable, 5 m, black
Why Choose Ugreen US121
Adds five metres to a port without introducing a powered hub.
On-cable re-driving keeps bulk transfers from stalling on retries.
Foil and braid shielding holds signal quality in noisy rack cabinets.
The 5.5 mm jacket routes cleanly through trunking and cable trays.
Legacy USB 1.1 peripherals still enumerate on the extended segment.

We needed to connect a barcode scanner at the till without moving the PC, and this did the job. The signal stays stable even at the full 5m, which a passive cable could not manage. USB 2.0 speed is fine for scanners and keyboards. The cable jacket feels thicker than the usual cheap ones, which gives me confidence it will survive daily use in a busy shop.

I was skeptical that a 5m USB cable would keep a stable connection, but the active chipset does its job. My external DVD drive and flash drives all work through it without errors. The male plug fits snugly into the PC, which matters because a loose fit was the reason I replaced my last cable. Good value for the length.

The active chipset is what makes this cable work. I tried a plain 5m extension before and my USB camera kept dropping off—this one holds the connection all day. The 5m reach lets me put the camera at the back of the shop while the PC sits at the counter. Solid connectors, no looseness at the female end.

Bought this to move my USB webcam to the far corner of the meeting room. The built-in chip handles the extra distance properly, and the video feed is steady with no dropouts. It is a USB 2.0 cable, so do not expect fast file transfers, but for peripherals it is reliable. Delivery was quick and the packaging was neat.

Solid extension cable. Does what it should and the chip keeps the signal clean over the full length. Only downside is that USB 2.0 speed limits large file transfers, but for my keyboard and mouse it is fine.
Jackline Wambui (verified owner) –
Works well for my printer. It sits across the room and this cable reaches without any signal problems.

Good extension. My mouse and keyboard work fine through it. Cable is thick and seems durable.

Handy cable. Reaches from my desktop to the printer without issues. Sturdy build.
