Description
Cast Iron Wood Stove for Camp and Patio Cooking
The Iron Triangle Furnace is a portable cast iron wood stove built for outdoor cooking, boiling and open-flame grilling. It uses a three-sided triangular firebox that accepts split wood, charcoal or briquettes. The cast iron body retains heat and distributes it across the cooking surface rather than concentrating it at the centre.
The stove measures roughly 400 mm across the top and stands 300 mm high, with a 3 mm cast iron wall thickness. A hinged front door opens for fuel loading and closes to control airflow through the base vents. The top grate carries a flat cooking surface that accepts a potjie, skillet or kettle directly over the coals.
Three cast iron legs fold flat for transport, and the unit weighs approximately 9 kg. A carry handle sits on the rear panel for lifting the stove on and off a bakkie load bay. The surface ships with a pre-seasoned oil coat, and the iron darkens further with each fire. Store the unit under cover when not in use to prevent surface rust.
Season the top plate with a thin oil film before the first fire. Keep the base vents clear of ash so the fire draws air from below. Use dry hardwood for a long coal bed, or lump charcoal where quicker heat is needed. Wipe the cooking surface after each use and re-oil it while still warm to build the patina.

- Vent slots under the firebox control air intake
- Door latch keeps the fuel contained during transport
Flat Cooking Surface
The top plate accepts a potjie, skillet, kettle or grill grid directly over the coals.Folding Legs and Carry Handle

Why Choose This Cast Iron Stove
The cast iron body holds heat long after the fire settles, which suits slow potjie cooking and long boils.
The triangular firebox concentrates fuel under the pot instead of spreading it across a wide grate.
Folding legs and a rear handle let one person move the 9 kg stove between the vehicle and the cooking spot.
The base vents and hinged door give direct control over burn rate without removing the pot.
Cast iron tolerates direct flame, hot coals and repeated heating cycles without warping.
The pre-seasoned surface cooks on the first fire and improves with use.
