Description
14th Gen Desktop Processing Platform
The Intel Core i5-14400F combines six Performance-cores and four Efficient-cores into a 10-core, 16-thread desktop processor. It runs on the LGA1700 socket and targets gaming builds, office workstations and light content workloads. Intel 7 lithography keeps the package within a 65 W base power envelope.
The chip ships without integrated graphics, so a discrete GPU is mandatory. Two memory channels support up to 192 GB of DDR5-4800 or DDR4-3200. PCIe 5.0 and 4.0 lanes total 20, configurable as 1×16+4 or 2×8+4. The 20 MB Smart Cache and 9.5 MB L2 cache reduce memory latency during sustained loads.
Turbo Boost 2.0 lifts the Performance-cores to 4.7 GHz and the Efficient-cores to 3.5 GHz. Maximum turbo power reaches 148 W under PL2. The processor works with Intel 600 and 700 series chipsets, including B760 and Z790 boards. A BIOS update may be required on older 600-series boards.
Key Features
Hybrid Core Architecture
Six Performance-cores handle foreground threads while four Efficient-cores absorb background tasks.Thread Director Scheduling
Hardware telemetry routes workloads to the appropriate core type under Windows 11.Memory and Expansion
- Dual-channel controller supports DDR5-4800 and DDR4-3200 at up to 192 GB
- 20 PCIe lanes split across PCIe 5.0 and 4.0 for GPU and NVMe storage
- DMI 4.0 with eight lanes links the CPU to the chipset
Thermal Envelope
The 65 W Raptor Lake CPU suits stock air coolers, while 148 W turbo headroom rewards better cooling. No Integrated Graphics
The F-series die omits the iGPU, which reduces package cost and directs display duties to a dedicated card.Instruction Set and Security
AVX2, AES-NI, Intel Boot Guard and VT-x with EPT cover acceleration and virtualisation workloads.

Documentation
Why Choose the i5-14400F
The 10-core desktop processor handles concurrent browser tabs, spreadsheets and background sync without saturating all threads.
DDR5-4800 support future-proofs the memory path, while DDR4-3200 compatibility lowers build cost on older boards.
PCIe 5.0 lanes feed current graphics cards and Gen5 NVMe drives at full bandwidth.
The LGA1700 gaming chip drops into existing 600-series motherboards after a BIOS update.
148 W turbo headroom leaves room for sustained boost clocks when paired with a tower cooler.
The i5-14400F upgrade path covers office refreshes and entry gaming builds on a single platform.

Brian Kamau (verified owner) –
Upgraded my office desktop with this chip and the difference is clear. Ten cores handle multitasking well, and the 4.7 GHz boost keeps things snappy. Good value for a mid-range build.
Wanjiru Mbugua (verified owner) –
Works well for my gaming rig paired with a mid-range GPU. The 16 threads help with streaming, and it stays cool with the stock cooler. Delivery was on time too.
Kevin Omondi (verified owner) –
Solid processor, no complaints so far.
Grace Nyambura (verified owner) –
I built a workstation for video editing and this i5 has been reliable. The 20 MB cache helps with timeline scrubbing, and rendering times are reasonable. Note it has no integrated graphics, so you need a dedicated GPU. Good buy overall.
Samuel Kipchoge (verified owner) –
Fitted it into an LGA1700 board with no issues. Runs quiet and cool under normal office loads. The price-to-performance is fair for what you get.
Amina Wekesa (verified owner) –
Good chip for the money but I wish the stock cooler was quieter under heavy load. For everyday tasks and light gaming it’s fine, and the 10 cores keep background apps from slowing things down.
