Description
HDMI Over Twisted-Pair Signal Kit
The Ugreen HDMI Extender ships as a transmitter and receiver pair that carries an HDMI feed across one Cat5e or Cat6 cable. The receiver rebuilds the stream at the far end without drivers. A 1080p60 source reaches 70 metres and a 4K30 source reaches 40 metres.
Both units expose an HDMI female port and an RJ45 jack. HDMI 1.3 signalling carries HDCP 1.4 content, including protected Blu-ray and set-top output. An EDID path reads the panel capabilities and returns them to the source, so the graphics card negotiates the correct timing on first boot.
Each box takes 5V 1A DC from the supplied adapter and draws little current at idle. The ABS shells run without a fan, which suits ceiling voids and cabinet shelves. Operators can cascade up to three links to cross a larger floor plate, using three separate LAN cables in series.
Key Features
Single Twisted-Pair Link
One Cat5e or Cat6 run replaces a long HDMI lead between source and display.Dual Resolution Tiers
- 1080p at 60Hz across runs up to 70 metres
- 4K at 30Hz across runs up to 40 metres
- 3D frame packing supported on both paths
EDID Read and Write
The receiver collects the display EDID and forwards it upstream so the source matches native timing.Automatic Equalisation
An EQ stage lifts high-frequency content lost over long copper runs and adjusts per cable length.Audio Pass-Through
192kHz/24-bit sampling covers PCM, DTS, DSD and Dolby AC3 up to 7.1 channels.IR Return Path
A 20-60kHz infrared window lets a handset at the display end control the source device.Cascaded Runs
Three links chain in series, extending coverage across large floors where one cable path is short.HDMI Lead Headroom
24AWG copper patch leads up to 20 metres are accepted on both the input and output sides.

Why Choose the CM455 Kit
Both ends negotiate HDCP 1.4 without a splitter, which keeps meeting room wiring to a single run.
The link drops to 1080p60 on long spans, so one part number covers short and extended distances.
EDID forwarding clears the black-screen faults that appear when a source cannot read the panel.
Fanless ABS bodies and 5V 1A draw suit ceiling voids, cabinets and behind-screen mounts.
The IR return channel keeps source control at the display, so no second remote run is needed.
Cascade support lets installers reach distant wings without pulling a new home run.

Used this to run HDMI from our reception display to the back office server room — about 50m of Cat6. Picture is clean at 1080p60 with no flicker. The EDID handling means the source doesn’t keep dropping the signal when the screen wakes up.

Works as advertised. I ran it through a conduit with a single Cat6 run and the display at the far end locks on first time. HDCP 1.4 passes fine with our media player.

Small units, neat build. Took me a few minutes to understand which end is transmitter and which is receiver, but the labels are there. Good for our boardroom projector setup.

The 70m rating is honest. We pushed it to about 60m over a decent Cat6 and the 1080p60 signal held steady through a full day of presentations. No dropouts, no colour shift. The metal housings feel solid enough for permanent install behind a wall plate.

Does the job. Signal quality is good at 1080p but I’d have liked clearer markings on the power input. Fine once installed.

Bought it for a classroom setup where the projector sits far from the teacher’s desk. The single Cat6 run kept things tidy and the EDID copy stopped the laptop from blanking when we switched sources. Only caveat: it caps at 1080p, so don’t expect 4K out of it. For our needs it’s been reliable.
