Description
Wall Plate Wi-Fi 6 Access Point for In-Room Coverage
The TP-Link EAP655-Wall AX3000 mounts into a standard 86 mm, EU or US junction box and pushes dual-band Wi-Fi 6 into a single room over existing cabling. It pairs 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz with 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz for a 2976 Mbps aggregate radio rate.
Two internal dual-band antennas deliver 3 dBi gain at 2.4 GHz and 5 dBi at 5 GHz. Both radios run 2×2 MU-MIMO with uplink and downlink OFDMA, 1024-QAM modulation and 160 MHz channel width on the 5 GHz band. The array covers roughly 50 m² (600 ft²) and serves more than 120 concurrent clients.
Power arrives through 802.3af/at PoE on the uplink port, so one cable carries both data and power. Maximum consumption measures 12 W on the EU build and 12.6 W on the US build with PoE passthrough disabled. The unit operates from 0 °C to 40 °C at 10–90% relative humidity, non-condensing.

Why Choose the EAP655-Wall
Junction-box mounting reuses existing in-wall cabling and removes the need for surface conduit in hotel rooms, dormitories and multi-tenant buildings.
Three downlink ports let you attach a desk phone, IPTV decoder or workstation directly at the wall plate, cutting extra switch ports per room.
PoE passthrough powers a downstream device from the same uplink run, which simplifies cabling in retrofit projects.
Controller-based provisioning keeps firmware, SSID profiles and radio settings consistent across hundreds of rooms.

Works as described. Mounted it over an existing back box and the cabling was straightforward. Wi-Fi 6 clients on our floor now hold a clean signal at the far end of the building.

Bought one to fix a dead spot in our office corridor. The 160 MHz channel support pushed throughput well past what the old AP managed. Good value for the spec.
Mercy Wambui (verified owner) –
Solid build and the pass-through port is handy for a desk phone. Took a little patience to get the VLAN tagging right on our switch, but once configured it has been stable for weeks.

Installed three of these in a guest house in Westlands and the wall-plate form factor meant no ceiling drops. The AX3000 radio handles about 40 concurrent clients per room without complaints. Omada controller picked them up quickly.
