Unshielded Twisted-Pair Modular Plug

The RJ45 CAT6 connector terminates solid or stranded copper cable in unshielded twisted-pair runs. It uses the standard 8-position, 8-contact interface with a three-prong terminal that grips solid conductors. The plug accepts 24 to 26 AWG wire and fits round cable jackets.

Contacts carry a 50 micro-inch gold plating over a nickel underplate. The polycarbonate housing meets UL94V-0 flammability limits and seats in standard keystone jacks and patch panels. A round cable entry with a strain-relief boot holds the jacket in place during pulls.

The plug is rated for 1000 mating cycles and operates from -40°C to 70°C. It supports T568A and T568B wiring schemes. Each connector ships individually and crimps with a standard 8P8C tool. Insertion loss and near-end crosstalk stay within CAT6 limits when the installer follows the correct pin-out.

Gold plating thickness is measured in micro-inches, and 50 micro-inches resists wear across repeated re-terminations. The three-prong contact geometry pierces jacket residue without severing the copper core. Installers should trim the conductor fan-out to under 13mm to protect crosstalk margins. The plug mates with shielded and unshielded keystone modules, so one part covers both trunk and patch positions.
