Duplex Multimode Fiber Assembly

The OM3 SC APC patch cord terminates two angled SC connectors at each end on a 5-metre duplex cable. It carries 850 nm and 1300 nm signals between switches, servers and patch panels. Factory polishing and testing remove field termination work from the rack build.

The 50/125 µm OM3 glass delivers 2000 MHz·km effective modal bandwidth at 850 nm. Overfilled launch bandwidth reaches 1500 MHz·km at 850 nm and 500 MHz·km at 1300 nm. Attenuation stays at or below 3.0 dB/km at 850 nm and 1.0 dB/km at 1300 nm.

SC APC ferrules use zirconia ceramic and an 8-degree angle polish. Multimode APC connectors typically hold return loss at 35 dB or better. Maximum insertion loss per mated pair is 0.3 dB, and durability reaches 500 mating cycles with a 0.2 dB change limit. The aqua LSZH jacket identifies OM3 fiber and limits smoke output in enclosed cabinets.

The cord operates from -20°C to 70°C. Minimum static bend radius is 10 mm and dynamic bend radius is 20 mm. Aramid yarn provides tensile reinforcement, and the assembly meets IEC 61300-2-4 pull-force requirements. Connector housings are colour-coded for multimode identification.
