Description
Pre-Terminated Single Mode Fibre Tail for Splice Closures
The LC/UPC SM pigtail is a 1-metre simplex assembly with one factory-terminated LC/UPC connector and an unterminated stub for fusion splicing. It uses OS2 9/125 µm fibre with a 900 µm tight buffer, so the tail strips cleanly and lands in standard splice cassettes. The yellow jacket marks single mode grade at a glance.
Each connector uses a zirconia ceramic ferrule with a UPC polish. Maximum insertion loss is 0.3 dB and minimum return loss is 50 dB at the 1310/1550 nm windows. Interchangeability stays within 0.2 dB, and the assembly survives 500 mating cycles without measurable drift on a test bench.
G.657.A1 bend-insensitive fibre holds a 10 mm minimum bend radius. Attenuation runs to 0.36 dB/km at 1310 nm and 0.22 dB/km at 1550 nm. The 0.9 mm outer diameter routes through tight enclosures and wall boxes. Operating range spans -40°C to 75°C, which covers internal comms rooms and external cabinets with thermal lag.
Terminate the bare end by fusion or mechanical splice and seat it in an ODF or patch panel. A single pigtail maps one fibre to one LC port, which suits point-to-point links, PON splits and patch-panel build-outs. The 1 m length leaves slack for tray routing without coiling excess inside the closure.
Key Features
LC/UPC Factory Termination
A zirconia ceramic ferrule with UPC polish holds insertion loss to 0.3 dB maximum.OS2 9/125 µm Single Mode Fibre
The core and cladding geometry matches ITU-T G.657.A1 and carries 1310/1550 nm wavelengths.900 µm Tight Buffer
The tight-buffered coating strips cleanly for fusion splicing and protects the fibre during routing.Bend-Insensitive Construction
- 10 mm minimum bend radius supports tight enclosure loops.
- G.657.A1 fibre reduces loss when the tail is pressed against a tray wall.
Colour-Coded Yellow Jacket
The yellow sheath identifies single mode grade per ANSI/TIA-598 conventions.Fusion and Mechanical Splice Ready
The unterminated stub accepts both splice methods without adapters.1 Metre Assembly Length
The 1 m tail provides routing slack inside closures without surplus coil.

Why Choose This Fibre Tail
A factory-polished LC/UPC end removes field connectorisation from the splice schedule.
G.657.A1 fibre tolerates tight loops inside shallow splice trays and wall boxes.
The 900 µm buffer strips with standard three-hole tools and seats in common cassettes.
A 50 dB return loss figure keeps reflections low on 1310 nm and 1550 nm links.
The 1 m assembly length suits patch-panel builds and PON splitter tails without surplus coil.
