Description
Wide-Format Inkjet Multifunction for Office Workgroups
The HP OfficeJet Pro 9720 brings A3 output, flatbed scanning and standalone copying into one chassis for teams producing drawings, proofs and collateral in-house. It reaches up to 22 ppm in black and 18 ppm in colour at ISO rates. The 250-sheet main tray and automatic duplexing on A4 and Letter keep long runs moving without manual reloads.
A 2.7-inch capacitive touchscreen pairs with a 1.2 GHz processor and 512 MB of memory to drive the front panel. HP Thermal Inkjet printheads render 1200 x 1200 dpi in black and 4800 x 1200 optimised dpi in colour on HP Advanced Photo Paper. Four HP 938 cartridges supply black, cyan, magenta and yellow separately.
Interfaces cover Hi-Speed USB 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with Bluetooth Low Energy. Wi-Fi Direct, Apple AirPrint, Mopria and the HP app handle mobile and guest jobs. HP Wolf Pro Security adds signed firmware, TLS, IPP over TLS and control-panel locking for managed fleets.

Why Choose the 9720
A3 capability in a 581 mm footprint suits branch offices and design rooms with limited floor space.
Separate CMYK cartridges let technicians replace only the colour that runs dry, cutting consumable spend on colour-heavy jobs.
Gigabit Ethernet and dual-band wireless allow wired backhaul in production areas and Wi-Fi coverage in meeting rooms.
HP Wolf Pro Security controls align the device with enterprise firmware and access policies.

I was looking for a wide format printer for my design studio and this HP fits the bill. The colour output at 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi is impressive for client proofs. Wi-Fi Direct makes it easy for my team to print from their phones without hopping on the main network. Delivery was prompt and the unit arrived well packaged. One thing to note: the original HP 938 cartridges are a bit pricey, but the yield is decent. Overall, a reliable workhorse for A3 needs.
Wanjiku Mwangi (verified owner) –
We’ve been using the 9720 in our office for a month now and the A3 duplex printing has been a game changer for our project reports. The setup on our network via Ethernet was straightforward, and the scan quality is sharp. The only small thing is it’s a bit bulky, but for the features it’s worth it.

Solid build and fast printing. Very happy with the purchase.
