Description
Bus-Powered Housing for Bare NVMe Modules
The Vention KPGH0 SSD Enclosure turns a bare M.2 NVMe module into an external drive that draws power from the host port. A USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C link carries data at a theoretical 10 Gbps. The unit accepts M Key drives in 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 lengths.
The bridge chipset supports UASP and TRIM, so the host issues native SCSI commands and the drive keeps its garbage-collection schedule. Vention rates the link for a 1 GB file transfer in roughly one second. Nickel-plated contacts on the M.2 socket resist wear across drive swaps, and capacity support reaches 2 TB.
The aluminium alloy and ABS shell conducts heat away from the controller during sustained writes. A status LED reports link activity, and the controller drops into auto sleep after five minutes idle. The body measures 112.4 × 36.8 × 12 mm. Assembly is toolless, and the package includes a USB-C data cable.
Key Features
10 Gbps USB 3.1 Gen 2 Link
The Gen 2 Type-C interface doubles the signalling rate of USB 3.0 and tops out at 10 Gbps.Drive Compatibility
- M.2 NVMe modules with an M Key edge connector.
- 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 board lengths.
- Capacity support up to 2 TB.
UASP and TRIM Acceleration
UASP enables queued SCSI transfers, and TRIM passes discard commands through to the drive.Aluminium Alloy Shell
The metal housing spreads controller heat, and the ABS frame holds the PCB in alignment.Status and Power Behaviour
- A front LED indicates read and write activity.
- Auto sleep engages after five minutes of inactivity.
- The unit is bus-powered and needs no external adapter.
Toolless Assembly
The cover lifts off without a screwdriver, which speeds drive swaps on service benches.Nickel-Plated M.2 Socket
Nickel plating on the edge connector limits oxidation in humid rooms.Cross-Platform Drivers
The bridge enumerates on Windows, Linux, macOS and Android without a separate driver package.

Why Choose the KPGH0
The 10 Gbps bridge keeps Gen 3 NVMe drives well clear of SATA-era transfer ceilings.
Four supported board lengths cover spare drives pulled from laptops, mini PCs and handhelds.
TRIM passthrough preserves write endurance on drives used as working volumes rather than archives.
Bus power removes the need for a second adapter during field imaging and data recovery work.
Toolless access shortens drive swaps for technicians who rotate several modules through one housing.
The aluminium shell and metal plating suit humid offices where plastic housings degrade faster.

I keep this in my toolkit for moving large CAD files between client sites and our office NAS. The aluminium shell dissipates heat well and the drive has never throttled during 30-minute transfers. The Type-C connector feels firm and has not loosened after months of plugging and unplugging. My only gripe is that the enclosure does not include thermal pads for the drive, so I added my own. Otherwise a dependable bridge for NVMe drives.

Solid little enclosure. My drive fits snugly and the USB-C cable is decent quality. Grey finish matches my laptop.

Bought two of these for our IT team to repurpose old laptop drives. The screwless design saves time during bench work and the aluminium body feels premium. Speeds are close to the internal slot once the drive is warm. Would have liked a small LED activity indicator, but that is minor. Arrived well packaged from the delivery team.

Used this to turn an old 512GB NVMe drive into a portable backup disk. Transfer speeds hit close to the rated 10Gbps on my laptop’s Type-C port, and the aluminium body stays cool even during long file copies. The screwless latch makes swapping drives easy.

Plugged in my spare NVMe and it was recognised instantly on Windows and Mac. Good value for the price.
