USB 2.0 Peripheral Lead

The USB 2.0 A-B cable connects a USB 2.0 Type-B device to a host Type-A port across a 1.5 m run. It carries 480 Mbps High-Speed signalling with backward compatibility to 12 Mbps and 1.5 Mbps. The assembly suits printers, scanners, external drive enclosures and audio interfaces.

A 28 AWG twisted data pair handles the differential signal, while two 24 AWG conductors carry VBUS and ground. The data pair holds 90 Ω differential impedance, which keeps reflections inside the USB 2.0 eye mask. Foil plus braid shielding blocks radiated noise from nearby power supplies and displays.

Moulded PVC strain reliefs protect the solder joints at both plugs. Gold-plated contacts limit oxidation across repeated mating cycles. The cable measures about 4 mm across the jacket, so it routes through tight grommets and cable managers. Operating temperature spans -20 °C to 80 °C, and the lead carries RoHS compliance.
