Description
Serial Port Expansion Over USB
The USB to RS232 Converter adds a DB9 serial port to a laptop or desktop through any free USB-A socket. A bridge chip handles protocol translation, so legacy modems, POS terminals, label printers and controllers appear as a native COM port. The 1 m lead keeps the adapter within reach of the device.
USB 2.0 compliance covers full-speed and high-speed hosts. The bridge chip buffers 384 bytes on receive and 128 bytes on transmit. Baud rates span 300 bps to 921.6 kbps. Parity settings include odd, even, mark, space and none, with 7 or 8 data bits and 1 or 2 stop bits.
The DB9 male connector carries the full RS232 signal set: DCD, RxD, TxD, DTR, GND, DSR, RTS, CTS and RI. Drivers cover Windows XP through 11, macOS 10.6 and later, and Linux kernels with the standard serial module. The adapter draws bus power, needs no external supply and consumes no IRQ or DMA resources.
Key Features
DB9 Male Serial Connector
The 9-pin plug seats directly into modems, POS units and CNC controllers.Bridge Chip and Data Buffers
- 384-byte receive buffer and 128-byte transmit buffer
- Baud range from 300 bps to 921.6 kbps
- Hardware and software flow control
Virtual COM Port Enumeration
Windows assigns a COM number that legacy applications address as a native port.Driver Coverage
- Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10 and 11 in 32 and 64-bit builds
- macOS 10.6 and later
- Linux with the standard usbserial module
Shielded 1 m Lead
Tinned copper braid and aluminium foil limit EMI from nearby power supplies.Bus-Powered Operation
The adapter draws current from the USB port and needs no DC supply.LED Activity Indicators
TX and RX lamps show live data flow during link diagnostics.Gold-Plated Contacts
Plated pins resist corrosion in humid equipment rooms and dusty cabinets.Plug-and-Play Enumeration
The host detects the adapter on insertion and loads the assigned driver automatically.Thumbscrew Retention
Captive screws lock the DB9 shell to the peripheral during moves.

Why Choose the DB9 Adapter
Restores serial access on laptops that ship without a COM port.
Removes the need for an internal PCI or PCIe serial card.
Virtual COM enumeration keeps existing terminal software working unchanged.
Bus power and plug-and-play setup cut commissioning time on site.
Shielded construction holds signal integrity beside switch mode supplies.
Thumbscrews keep the plug seated on vibrating machinery and mobile carts.
One lead covers routers, barcode scanners, cash drawers and industrial controllers.
