Description
Wired Network Connectivity for USB Hosts
The USB to Ethernet adapter adds a Gigabit RJ45 port to any laptop, desktop or tablet through a USB 3.0 Type-A connection. It negotiates 10/100/1000Mbps links automatically and requires no external power supply. The aluminium housing measures 60 x 22 x 15 mm and weighs 32 g with the 150 mm pigtail.
The ASIX AX88179 controller handles USB 3.0 at 5 Gbps and exposes a standard CDC-ECM or RNDIS interface. Driver support spans Windows 7 through 11, macOS 10.9 and later, Linux kernel 3.9 and Chrome OS. The RJ45 socket carries auto-MDI/MDIX crossover detection and 9 KB jumbo frame support.
Wake-on-LAN and IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet reduce idle power draw. Link and activity LEDs sit beside the port, and the USB-A plug folds flat for transport. Operating range spans 0 °C to 40 °C at 10% to 85% relative humidity for office and field use.
Key Features
USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet
The AX88179 controller moves data at up to 5 Gbps over USB and 1 Gbps over the RJ45 port.Tri-Speed Auto-Negotiation
- 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T support
- Auto-MDI/MDIX removes crossover cable requirements
- 9 KB jumbo frame handling
Driverless on Major Platforms
Windows 7 through 11, macOS 10.9+, Linux kernel 3.9+ and Chrome OS load native or bundled drivers.Wake-on-LAN Support
The adapter wakes a sleeping host from a magic packet sent over the wired link.Energy Efficient Ethernet
IEEE 802.3az lowers idle power on the PHY during periods of low traffic.Aluminium Housing
The metal shell measures 60 x 22 x 15 mm and dissipates heat from the controller during sustained transfers.

Quick start guide
Why Choose This Network Adapter
Restores wired connectivity on ultrabooks and tablets that ship without an RJ45 port.
The AX88179 controller holds line rate at Gigabit with jumbo frames enabled.
Bus power removes the need for a separate DC supply at the desk or in the field.
Native drivers across Windows, macOS, Linux and Chrome OS avoid manual installation.
Aluminium housing and a 32 g mass suit travel between office, home and client sites.
