Dream Machine Pro Max
The UniFi Dream Machine Pro Max (SKU UDM-Pro-Max) is a 1RU UniFi OS console that combines a security gateway, application server, and NVR. It sits above the original Dream Machine Pro with a faster CPU, 2.5G WAN, and higher IDS/IPS throughput. Dual WAN-capable ports (2.5G RJ45 and 10G SFP+) support fibre or copper handoff. Eight Gigabit LAN ports plus a 10G SFP+ LAN cage cover a small rack without a separate core switch. HDD bays record UniFi Protect cameras when drives are installed.
Additionally, UniFi Network, Protect, Access, Talk, and Connect applications run on the same appliance subject to resource limits. Therefore many sites collapse four boxes into one RU. However, camera count and IDS inspection share CPU. Consequently, size camera bitrates and IDS mode against Ubiquiti’s published Pro Max limits, not the older UDM-Pro numbers.

2.5G/10G WAN matches modern fibre CPE speeds.
Protect bays avoid a separate NVR for modest camera counts.
IDS/IPS on the Pro Max dataplane is stronger than the original Pro.
Additionally, adopt the device into a UniFi account before stacking switches. Therefore plan VLANs and WAN failover in the Network app first. However, do not enable every UniFi application on a loaded NVR without checking CPU. Consequently, split Talk or a large Protect deployment if the UI shows saturation. Use Ubiquiti’s compatibility list for HDDs.
