Description
AX3000 Dual-Band Wireless Platform
The TP-Link AX53 router is an AX3000 dual-band Wi-Fi 6 router built on the 802.11ax standard. It delivers 2402 Mbps on the 5 GHz band and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz for aggregate throughput near 3 Gbps. A dual-core processor handles NAT, firewall and wireless scheduling under load.
This 802.11ax wireless router uses four fixed high-performance antennas paired with beamforming and a high-power front-end module. The radio supports HE160, 1024-QAM, OFDMA and four spatial streams. DFS opens extra 5 GHz channels where local regulations permit.
The dual-band gigabit router provides one Gigabit WAN port and four Gigabit LAN ports for wired backhaul to switches, access points and NAS units. The chassis measures 260.2 × 135 × 41.6 mm and runs from a 12 V DC adapter. Operating range is 0 °C to 40 °C at 10% to 90% non-condensing humidity.
Key Features
Wi-Fi 6 Radio with HE160
The 5 GHz chain uses a 160 MHz channel and 1024-QAM to reach 2402 Mbps at the PHY layer.Dual-Band Capacity Controls
- OFDMA schedules uplink and downlink resource units across multiple clients.
- Airtime Fairness limits one busy station from monopolising the channel.
Beamforming and High-Power FEM
The front-end module raises transmit power while beamforming concentrates energy toward associated clients.EasyMesh Compatibility
The unit joins an EasyMesh fabric with compatible nodes and supports one network name and client roaming.Wired Port Set
One Gigabit WAN uplink and four Gigabit LAN ports run at 10/100/1000Base-T for distribution switches and wired endpoints.Security Stack
SPI firewall, IP and MAC binding, access control and WPA3 encryption protect the LAN edge.VPN Termination
- OpenVPN, PPTP and WireGuard server modes accept remote clients.
- Client mode connects the router to an upstream VPN provider.
Management Interfaces
The Tether app and a web UI expose configuration, OTA firmware updates and HomeShield reporting.

Why Choose Archer AX53
The AX3000 radio covers 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz clients with four streams and OFDMA scheduling.
Five Gigabit Ethernet ports remove the need for an immediate access switch in small deployments.
EasyMesh support allows coverage expansion with compatible nodes without a full platform replacement.
WPA3, SPI firewall and HomeShield features give procurement teams a documented security baseline.
Router and access point modes suit both routed edge and switched LAN topologies.

We run a cyber cafe in Thika and put this at the front. OFDMA helps when a dozen students are streaming at once, though I wish the guest network had more granular bandwidth limits. Overall a good upgrade from our previous dual-band unit.

Solid router but it runs warm in a closed cabinet. Moved it onto a shelf and it has been stable since. Four LAN ports are enough for our small setup.

Replaced an old 802.11n unit in our Westlands office and the 5 GHz band now holds 160 MHz channels. Staff on the second floor stopped complaining about dropped video calls.

Ordered on Monday, delivered in Nairobi by Wednesday. Packaged well and the box was sealed.

The AX3000 speeds are real. Copied a 12 GB folder to my NAS over wireless and it moved faster than my old cable run. Setup through the Tether app took maybe ten minutes.

Bought it for home use in Kilimani. WPA3 support was the deciding factor for me, and the 1024-QAM on 5 GHz gives plenty of headroom for 4K streaming. Fair value for an AX3000 unit.
