Pan Head Tapping Fasteners for Sheet Metal

The Self Tapping Screws No.8 pack contains 4.2 mm diameter pan head screws at 13 mm length, equivalent to the imperial 8 x 1/2 inch size. Each screw cuts its own thread into pre-drilled or punched sheet metal, plastic and soft wood. A Pozidriv PZ2 recess takes high torque without cam-out.

The nominal diameter measures 4.2 mm and the full thread runs at a 1.4 mm pitch. Head diameter is 8.2 mm with a 3.05 mm head height. The Type C point adds a 3.7 mm drill tip that locates the hole before the thread engages. Bright zinc plating provides a passivated barrier against indoor corrosion.

Case-hardened steel gives the thread enough hardness to form a mating thread in sheet steel up to roughly 3 mm thick. DIN 7981 C and ISO 7049 define the head and thread geometry. The pan head spreads clamping load over a wider area than a countersunk profile, which suits brackets, trunking and enclosure lids.
