Rack-and-Pinion Overhead Closer

The M61 door closer is a surface-mounted hydraulic unit for single-leaf doors up to 85 kg and 1200 mm wide. A rack-and-pinion mechanism drives the closing cycle through a spring and oil chamber. The die-cast aluminium body carries a painted finish that suits steel, timber and glass doors.

Two independent valves set the closing speed from 180° to 15° and the latching speed from 15° to 0°. The arm sweeps a maximum opening angle of 180°. A non-handed body serves left and right swing doors from one stock item. Fixing holes follow the standard 19 mm and 38 mm pattern.

The closer mounts on the pull side or push side with the supplied arm and wood screws. Operating temperature spans -20 °C to +50 °C. The non-hold-open design returns the leaf after every pass, which keeps fire doors and access-controlled openings shut. Service life reaches 500,000 cycles under normal duty.
