Description
12V DC Backup Power for Door Access Hardware
The KPSB-5A Power Supply delivers a regulated 12V DC output at up to 5A for magnetic locks, electric strikes and access controllers. It accepts 220V AC input and converts it through a switching regulator inside a metal enclosure. An internal battery bay accepts a 12V 7Ah sealed lead-acid pack for standby operation.
The unit supplies 60W total and holds output between 11V and 14V DC. A charging circuit maintains the standby battery at roughly 13.8V and transfers load to the battery when mains power fails. Protection circuitry covers overload, short circuit and voltage spikes, and a resettable element restores service after a fault clears.
Installers wire locks and controllers to the output terminals and set the lock delay jumper across a 0 to 10 second range. The steel housing carries a keyed protective cover and wall-mount tabs. Operating temperature spans 0°C to 40°C indoors. The unit suits offices, apartments and retail sites that need door hardware to stay powered through outages.
Key Features
Regulated 12V DC Output at 5A
The switching regulator holds a steady 12V rail for locks, strikes and controllers drawing up to 5A combined.Standby Battery Charging
An internal charger maintains a 12V 7Ah sealed lead-acid battery at approximately 13.8V and switches the load during mains failure.Triple Protection Circuit
- Overload shutdown limits current when connected hardware exceeds the 5A ceiling
- Short circuit protection isolates the output until the fault is removed
- Voltage clamping absorbs spikes on the 220V AC input
Adjustable Lock Delay
A jumper selects a release delay between 0 and 10 seconds for magnetic locks and electric strikes.Steel Enclosure with Keyed Cover
The metal housing shields the transformer, board and battery from dust and accidental contact.Wide Door Hardware Compatibility
Output terminals accept magnetic locks, electric strikes, exit buttons and standalone access controllers.Switching Topology
The switch-mode design produces less heat than a linear supply and tolerates wide input variation.

Why Choose the KPSB-5A
Five amps covers a magnetic lock pair, an exit button and a controller on one rail.
The battery bay keeps doors operable through grid failures without a separate charger.
Jumper-selectable release timing matches both fail-safe and fail-secure hardware.
Switch-mode regulation runs cooler than a linear transformer in enclosed cabinets.
The steel housing protects terminals from tampering in shared corridors and plant rooms.

James Mwangi (verified owner) –
Holds the maglocks during outages, that’s the main thing.
Mercy Wambui (verified owner) –
Battery backup kicked in fine.
Collins Oduor (verified owner) –
5A output runs two locks and the controller no problem.
Anthony Njoroge (verified owner) –
Solid
Lucy Anyango (verified owner) –
Terminals are clearly marked, wiring was quick.
George Kimani (verified owner) –
Runs cool under load, no issues so far.
Eunice Chebet (verified owner) –
Works well
Patrick Omondi (verified owner) –
Did the install last week, backup test passed. Enclosure is a bit tight for a large battery.
