Layer 2 Gigabit Access Switching for Small and Mid-Sized Networks

The Huawei S220-48T4S is a managed Layer 2 gigabit switch built for access-layer deployments. It packs 48 copper downlink ports and four fibre uplink slots into a single rack unit.

The forwarding engine moves 77 Mpps against a 104 Gbps switching capacity, backed by a 16,000-entry MAC table and 4,094 VLANs. Each copper port autonegotiates 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps and supports jumbo frames, port isolation and static link aggregation. The four SFP cages accept 1 Gbps optical or copper transceivers for riser and backbone links.

An internal AC supply runs from 100-240 V mains, so no external adapter is needed. Peak consumption reaches 43.3 W, with typical running draw near 36.15 W. Air cooling with automatic fan speed adjustment keeps noise down in occupied spaces, and the metal chassis carries a -5 °C to 50 °C operating range.
