Compact Bean-to-Cup Espresso Machine

The Gaggia Besana RI8180/01 is an automatic bean-to-cup espresso machine for offices, small cafés and home kitchens. A 15-bar pump and a 1400W heating system drive espresso, long coffee, hot water and steam. The black chassis measures 295 x 325 x 420 mm and weighs 7 kg.

A stainless steel boiler supplies the brew circuit and the steam wand. The pump maintains 15 bar at the brew head. Two self-resetting thermostats guard against over-temperature, and an NTC sensor reports boiler temperature to the control card. The unit runs on 230V at 50Hz and draws approximately 6.1A.

A 100% ceramic grinder offers five grind settings from fine to coarse. The 180g bean hopper and 1L removable water tank support back-to-back service. The grounds drawer holds 14 pucks. The brew group detaches by hand for rinsing, and the machine flushes the coffee circuit at power-on and power-off.

The classic pannarello wand delivers steam for milk texturing or hot water for tea. A rotary knob and push-buttons select espresso, long coffee and hot water. The memo function stores a custom shot volume. A decalcification alarm and standby power below 1W complete the control set.

Installation requires a level counter and a 230V earthed outlet. Leave clearance above the bean hopper for refilling. Prime the water circuit before the first brew. The Intenza+ water filter slot accepts an optional cartridge, and descaling should follow the manual interval of two to three months in hard-water areas.

Maintenance follows a simple routine. Empty the grounds drawer before it overfills, rinse the brew group weekly and lubricate the brew unit with the supplied grease tube every few months. Clean the pannarello wand after each milk session. The grinder adjustment key ships with the unit for burr service.

Service access favours trained technicians. The outer shell removes with standard tools, and the boiler, pump and grinder sit on separate mounts. Spare parts follow the RI8180 platform, which shares components with the HD8651 chassis. Record the serial number for warranty claims.

Water quality affects taste and scale build-up. Use filtered or bottled water where the supply is hard. Do not fill the tank with hot water. Empty the tank before long idle periods and run a rinse cycle on return. These habits reduce descaling frequency and protect the boiler.
