The MacBook A1398 screen is a factory-assembled lid for the 15-inch MacBook Pro Retina platform. The module bundles the 15.4-inch IPS panel, the glossy front glass, the aluminium rear cover, both hinges, the FaceTime HD camera, the antenna bar and the display ribbon into one service part. Technicians replace the whole clamshell rather than separating bonded layers.

The panel runs 2880 × 1800 at 220 ppi in a 16:10 aspect ratio. Apple specifies 300 nits brightness and a 900:1 contrast ratio across the Retina generation. The six-pin or twelve-pin webcam connector varies by production year, so buyers must match the assembly to the machine’s EMC number before ordering.

Apple fitted this A-number across the Mid 2012, Early 2013, Late 2013, Mid 2014 and Mid 2015 builds.
