Description
High-Current Solar Regulator for Off-Grid Battery Banks
The 2kW MPPT charge controller tracks the maximum power point of a PV array and delivers up to 80 A into 12 V, 24 V or 48 V battery banks. It handles 2000 W of solar input at 48 V and scales down automatically on lower-voltage systems. The aluminium heatsink and variable-speed fan keep the unit within thermal limits at full output.
Maximum PV open-circuit voltage reaches 150 V, which allows four 36 V panels in series on a 48 V bank. The controller reads battery voltage every 10 seconds and adjusts the buck converter duty cycle to hold the target charge stage. Bulk, absorption, float and equalisation stages run in sequence, and lead-acid, gel, AGM and lithium profiles are selectable from the front panel.
The LCD shows PV voltage, battery voltage, charge current and daily kWh. A backlit four-button keypad sets battery type, charge current limit and load timer. RS-485 and dry-contact ports support remote monitoring and generator start. The chassis measures 280 x 185 x 95 mm and weighs 2.6 kg. It operates between -20°C and 50°C and derates above 45°C.
Key Features
2000 W PV Input at 48 V
The controller accepts 2000 W of solar at 48 V nominal, 1000 W at 24 V and 500 W at 12 V.80 A Charge Output
A synchronous buck stage delivers up to 80 A continuous into the battery bus.150 V PV Open-Circuit Limit
The input stage tolerates 150 V Voc and 145 V operating voltage from series strings.Multi-Stage Charging
- Bulk, absorption, float and equalisation stages run in order
- Selectable profiles for flooded, gel, AGM and lithium batteries
- Temperature compensation at -3 mV/°C/cell with optional sensor
LCD and Keypad Interface
The display reports PV voltage, battery voltage, charge current and accumulated energy.Communication Ports
RS-485 and dry-contact terminals support remote monitoring and external control.Protection Suite
Reverse polarity, over-temperature, overload and short-circuit faults trip the output.

Why Choose This 80 A Regulator
The 150 V input limit allows four 36 V panels in series on a 48 V bank.
An 80 A output charges a 400 Ah bank at roughly 0.2C.
Selectable lithium and lead-acid profiles avoid separate programming tools.
RS-485 telemetry supports remote site monitoring over a single pair.
The aluminium heatsink and fan hold full output in ambient temperatures up to 45°C.
