Description
Fail-Safe Magnetic Door Lock
The 280kg Electromagnetic Lock holds a single door shut with 280kg of rated holding force. Power to the coil locks the door, and loss of power releases it. That fail-safe behaviour suits fire-rated escape routes and controlled entrances.
The coil runs on 12V DC at 460mA or 24V DC at 230mA, selected by wiring. A metal-oxide varistor clamps inductive spikes from the coil. The solid aluminium alloy housing carries a double-insulated body and tamper-proof screws. No residual magnetism remains after release, so the armature drops cleanly.
The lock housing measures 250 x 47.7 x 27.5mm and the armature plate 180 x 38 x 11.7mm. Total weight sits at 2kg. Surface mounting fixes the magnet body to the frame and the armature to the door leaf. The assembly works on wooden, glass and metal single doors with a left-hand opening.
Key Features
280kg Holding Force
The rated pull resists forced entry on standard single-leaf doors.Fail-Safe Operation
The coil releases the moment supply drops, which meets escape route requirements.Dual Voltage Coil
- 12V DC at 460mA operating current
- 24V DC at 230mA operating current
- Voltage selected at the terminal block during wiring
MOV Surge Protection
A varistor clamps back-EMF spikes when the coil de-energises.Aluminium Alloy Housing
The solid body and double insulation resist abrasion and mechanical shock.Tamper-Proof Screws
Specialty fasteners block casual removal of the magnet body from the frame. No Residual Magnetism
The armature releases without sticking after power is cut.Surface-Mount Fixing
The body fixes to the header and the armature plate to the door leaf.

Why Choose the Fail-Safe Maglock
Releases automatically on power failure, which keeps exit doors compliant.
Dual-voltage coil matches either a 12V or 24V access controller supply.
MOV clamping protects the controller relay from coil back-EMF.
Aluminium body withstands knocks at busy entrance frames.
Tamper-proof screws slow down forced removal attempts.
The 2kg assembly installs on wood, glass or metal single doors.
