The Ubiquiti U7-LR WiFi 7 is a high-capacity ceiling-mount access point engineered for expansive wireless coverage and multi-gigabit throughput. This 802.11be hardware operates across the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz frequency bands to deliver an aggregate radio rate of 9.3 Gbps. The 6 GHz band utilizes 320 MHz channel widths to provide massive data pipes and minimize spectral congestion. Multi-Link Operation (MLO) allows the device to aggregate multiple bands for a single client connection. This process reduces latency and improves reliability for high-bandwidth applications. Preamble puncturing further enhances performance by allowing the radio to transmit around narrow-band interference within a channel. This unit requires a 2.5 GbE uplink to support its high wireless speeds without creating a wired bottleneck.

The 9.3Gbps capacity is serious future-proofing, but the WiFi 7 latency improvements are already very noticeable on our newer laptops. It’s a solid piece of kit, though you definitely need a 2.5G switch to see the real benefits of that uplink. Delivery to our premises was prompt and the packaging was intact.
