High-Current DC Connector for Battery and Inverter Circuits

The 175A 2-pole power plug is a genderless high-current connector for battery banks, inverters, winches and DC distribution boards. It mates with an identical housing, so the same part serves as both plug and receptacle. The SA175 series replaces the Anderson SB175 footprint.

Each contact barrel accepts 4 AWG to 1/0 AWG cable, covering 21.1 mm² to 53.5 mm² cross-sections. Contacts use copper with a silver plate and hold resistance under 95 µΩ. The dielectric withstand rating reaches 2200 V AC, and the working voltage rating is 600 V AC or DC.

The housing moulds from polycarbonate rated UL94 V-0 and tolerates -20 °C to 105 °C. A flat wiping contact system keeps resistance low at full current. Connection force measures 150 N, and the mated pair holds at least 500 N. A dustproof cover and moulded handle ship with the body.

Fit the terminal to the stripped cable with a calibrated crimp tool, then slide it into the housing until the retention clip seats. Colour-coded housings prevent mating between circuits at different voltages. The design supports 10,000 no-load cycles and 250 hot-plug cycles at 75 A and 120 V. Inspect the contact barrels for oxidation at each service interval and replace the pair if resistance rises. Route the cable with a service loop so the connector takes no tensile load. Confirm the housing colour matches the circuit before mating.
