Description
Cloud Core Router for 10G Networks
The Mikrotik CCR2116-12G-4S+ is a rackmount core router built around a 16-core Amazon Annapurna Labs AL73400 ARM64 CPU running at 2 GHz. It targets ISP and enterprise edge roles that need 10G forwarding with deep firewall and queue processing.
Four 10G SFP+ cages connect to a Marvell Aldrin switch chip over dedicated full-duplex lines. Twelve Gigabit RJ45 ports share the same switch fabric. A thirteenth GbE port wires directly to the CPU for out-of-band management. Layer 3 hardware offloading moves routing decisions to the switch ASIC.
Two AC inputs and two PSU slots provide supply redundancy. The 1U chassis measures 443 x 199 x 44 mm and cools with four fans. RouterOS v7 with a Level 6 licence ships preinstalled. One M.2 PCIe slot accepts local storage.
Key Features
16-Core ARM64 Processing
The AL73400 runs 16 threads at 2000 MHz and delivers at least 15% more single-core performance than the preceding CCR generation.Layer 3 Hardware Offloading
- 98DX3255 switch chip handles IPv4 and IPv6 routing in hardware
- 51.3 Gbps L3HW throughput at 1518-byte packets
- 40.1 Gbps L3HW throughput at 64-byte packets
Port Layout
- 12x 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports via the switch chip
- 1x GbE port wired directly to the CPU for management
- 4x 10G SFP+ cages with full-duplex switch links
Routing Throughput
Fast-path routing reaches 39 Gbps at 1518-byte frames and 15.2 Gbps at 64-byte frames with no filter rules applied.Dual Redundant Power
Two AC inputs feed separate PSU slots across a 100-240V range, and the unit draws a maximum of 83 W.IPsec Capacity
256 AES-128-CBC tunnels sustain roughly 4.1 Gbps at 1400-byte payloads on the AL73400 platform.RouterOS v7 Level 6
The device ships with a Level 6 licence and includes free software updates for the product lifetime.M.2 Expansion
One M.2 PCIe slot accepts local storage for logs, containers, and cache workloads.

Quick start guide
Why Choose the CCR2116-12G-4S+
The 16-core core router doubles the throughput of the earlier 36-core CCR1036 in comparable tests.
Switch-like forwarding keeps 10G SFP+ router links free of CPU bottlenecks in dense BGP and queue deployments.
Dual PSU slots and dual AC inlets remove a single point of failure in rackmount core router installs.
RouterOS v7 router firmware provides hardware-offloaded routing, MPLS, and container support.
M.2 storage expansion keeps logs and container images local without external servers.
