Description
Sealed Lead-Acid Standby Battery
The Lightwave 12V 12Ah is a valve-regulated lead-acid battery built for UPS and standby backup duty. Sealed construction keeps the electrolyte captive and removes water topping from the maintenance schedule. Lightwave specifies nominal capacity at the 20-hour rate.
The block measures 151 mm long, 99 mm wide and 95 mm high in the container, with 101 mm total height including terminals. It weighs roughly 3.2 kg and uses Fasten Tab No.187E terminals. Internal resistance sits at 17 mΩ when fully charged at 25°C.
Discharge ratings reach 7.2 A at the 1-hour rate and 3.0 A at the 3-hour rate. Cycle charging runs at 14.4 to 15.0 V with initial current below 3.6 A, while standby float holds 13.5 to 13.8 V. Capacity retention reaches 102% at 40°C and 85% at 0°C.
Key Features
Maintenance-Free VRLA Construction
The valve-regulated design recombines gas internally and needs no electrolyte top-ups across the service life.Constant-Current Discharge Ratings
- 7.2 A continuous at the 1-hour rate
- 3.0 A continuous at the 3-hour rate
Low Internal Resistance
A 17 mΩ figure at 25°C limits voltage sag during high-current UPS transfer events.Dual Charging Profiles
Cycle mode accepts 14.4 to 15.0 V, and standby float holds 13.5 to 13.8 V.Temperature Tolerance
The cell retains 102% capacity at 40°C and 85% at 0°C for varied plant room conditions.Standard Spade Terminals
Fasten Tab No.187E terminals match common UPS and inverter wiring harnesses.

Why Choose Lightwave LW12V/12AH
The 12 Ah block gives longer runtime than 7 Ah or 9 Ah units in the same footprint, so existing UPS trays need no modification.
Sealed VRLA chemistry suits server rooms, alarm panels and CCTV cabinets where electrolyte servicing is impractical.
Published discharge curves at 1-hour and 3-hour rates let engineers size runtime against actual load rather than guesswork.
The standard 187 spade terminal fits most replacement harnesses, which shortens swap-out time during preventive maintenance.

The Faston 187E tabs mated cleanly with the existing spade connectors on our inverter. Delivered a steady 7 A discharge during a controlled test without any voltage collapse.
Lydia Nyambura (verified owner) –
Bought two for the office UPS units. The sealed build means no topping up and no acid smell in the server room, which the previous flooded cells had. Holding float voltage steady at 13.6 V after several weeks of service.
Elijah Barasa (verified owner) –
Tested it on a bench charger before installing. Cycle charge sat comfortably in the 14.4 to 15.0 V window and the internal resistance felt low enough for UPS duty. No complaints so far, and the terminal layout matches the standard 12 V footprint used in most desktop UPS enclosures.
Catherine Njoki (verified owner) –
Replaced the battery in our home inverter after the old one stopped holding charge. This one has handled several power cuts already and the lights stay on long enough to finish what we are doing. Good unit.
Patrick Onyango (verified owner) –
Arrived well packed with terminal covers included. Swapped it in the same afternoon.
Isaac Mwangi (verified owner) –
Dropped this into a 1 kVA UPS that had been cutting out on every outage. Runtime is now long enough to save work and shut down properly. Terminals fitted the existing harness without any adapter.
Jane Wambui (verified owner) –
We use these on the alarm panel and CCTV recorder backup in our shops. The 12 Ah block covers roughly twice the runtime the old 7 Ah cells gave us. Only note is that it is noticeably heavier, so the mounting bracket needs to be up to it.
