Description
External Flash Storage for Mobile Workflows
The Lenovo PS8S Portable SSD carries 1 TB of NAND flash in a metal enclosure and connects over USB 3.2 Gen 2. Sequential reads reach 1050 MB/s and writes reach 1000 MB/s, so large project folders copy in seconds. Lenovo supplies a 30 cm USB-C to USB-C cable in the box.
The unit measures 109.9 x 28.9 x 8.9 mm and weighs 40 g. That footprint slips into a laptop sleeve or a jacket pocket without adding bulk. A metal alloy body shields the controller and spreads heat during sustained transfers, and Lenovo rates operation from 0 °C to 45 °C at 10-90% relative humidity.
USB 3.2 Gen 2 runs at 10 Gbps and steps down to Gen 1 and USB 2.0 hosts automatically. Windows, macOS and Android mount the pre-formatted volume without extra drivers. The drive carries FCC, IC, CE, CB, VCCI and RCM approvals, and Lenovo covers it with a three-year parts warranty.

I was sceptical about buying a portable SSD without seeing it first, but this Lenovo has exceeded my expectations. The USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 really delivers – I’m getting close to the advertised 1050MB/s when moving video footage. It’s compact enough to slip into my laptop bag’s side pocket. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is that the cable is a bit short for my setup, but that’s easily solved with an extension. Overall, a very reliable drive for editing on the go.

I use this SSD for backing up our church’s media archive. The 1TB capacity is plenty for all the sermon videos and photos. It runs cool even after long transfers, which I appreciate. The cool grey colour is a nice change from the usual black. Good value for the speed you get.

This little drive is a lifesaver for my design work. I move large Photoshop files between the office and home, and the USB-C connection is proper fast. Build feels solid, not flimsy plastic. Only wish it came with a small pouch, but that’s minor.

Ordered on Tuesday, received in Nairobi on Thursday. Plugged it into my Dell laptop and it was recognised immediately. Transferred a 20GB folder in under a minute. No complaints so far.

Does the job. Fast enough for my accounting files and quick to set up.
