Description
2-Line Gigabit Desk Phone for SMB Extensions
The Grandstream GXP1628 IP phone is a Linux-based desktop handset with two SIP accounts and dual switched Gigabit Ethernet ports. It targets reception positions and small offices that need visual line status across shared extensions. The 132 x 48 backlit LCD shows caller ID, BLF state and menu prompts.
Eight dual-colour BLF/speed-dial keys give one-touch access to colleagues and shared lines. Two line keys with dual-colour LEDs map to the two SIP accounts. Three XML programmable context-sensitive soft keys follow the on-screen menu. A full-duplex speakerphone and HD handset cover hands-free calls.
The phone draws power through IEEE 802.3af Class 2 PoE or the bundled 5 VDC adapter. A second Gigabit port lets a PC share the wall drop without a separate switch. Wall-mount and two desk angles are supported, and the unit operates from 0 °C to 40 °C.

The 132×48 backlit LCD is easy to read even under our office lighting, and the eight BLF keys are handy for monitoring the reception line and two other extensions. PoE means only one cable to each desk, which simplified our cabling. Voice clarity on the HD handset is solid over our Grandstream PBX.

Ordered four for our call centre and they were delivered within a week. The dual gigabit ports let me daisy-chain a PC behind the phone without a second wall port. Setup via the web GUI was straightforward and the phones registered on first boot.

Good basic desk phone for the price. Two SIP accounts are enough for our front-desk setup, and the 3-way conference works for quick calls with suppliers. The plastic housing feels a bit light, but nothing has failed so far.

Set it up in my home office and it powers up fine from a small PoE injector. The BLF keys are useful for monitoring my two lines. The menu takes a bit of getting used to if you are coming from a different brand.

We standardised on this model for our Westlands branch because the dual gigabit ports save switch ports. All eight phones provisioned cleanly from the config server and the HD audio is noticeably clearer than the old analog handsets we retired.
