Low-Profile Rails for Pickup Bed Rack Mounting

The Front Runner load bed tracks add two low-profile rails to a pickup bed that has no factory track. Each rail measures 1468 mm long, 51 mm wide and 16 mm high. The pair weighs 1.49 kg with the fixing plates in place.

Front Runner extrudes the rails from aluminium and finishes them in black powder coat. Six 3CR12 stainless steel fixing plates bolt the rails to the bed floor. Rubber strips sit under each rail to protect the paint, and plastic end caps close the channel at both ends.

The channel accepts Front Runner Load Bed Legs, which slide in or out so a Slimline II rack or load bars come off without tools. Fitment covers load beds measuring 1762 mm to 1964 mm. Beds without factory mounting points need drilling.

Measure the bed before ordering and check that the rail position clears the wheel arches and tailgate. Seal each drill hole with a suitable sealant and torque the fixing plates evenly. Re-check the bolts after the first loaded trip.

A rack over the bed frees the floor for cargo while keeping recovery gear, fuel and camping equipment off the load surface. The low 36 mm stack height with plates fitted leaves clearance under a tonneau or canopy. Confirm that clearance before drilling.

Wipe the rails with a damp cloth and clear grit from the channel before sliding the legs. Touch up stone chips on the powder coat to limit corrosion. Inspect the fixing plates at each service interval and replace any plate that shows deep pitting.
