Omnidirectional 2D Imager for Point-of-Sale

The Datalogic QuickScan QD2430 is a corded handheld area-imaging scanner built for retail POS and light warehouse duty. It reads 1D linear labels, stacked codes and 2D matrix symbols from paper, loyalty cards and mobile screens.

A 752 x 480 wide-VGA sensor with a red LED source captures a full field in one pass. Datalogic rates the scan rate at 270 scans per second, which supports high-throughput lanes. Minimum symbol width is 4 mil for linear codes, and motion tolerance handles a moving item at the counter.

The multi-interface board supports keyboard wedge, USB and RS-232 through a single hardware platform. Input voltage spans 4.5 V to 14 V DC, so the unit runs from a host-powered USB port or an external supply. Typical current draw is 140 mA in operation and 50 mA in standby. The SCAN button and Datalogic green-spot feedback confirm a good read without the operator watching the screen.

Housing protection is IP42, and the chassis survives a 1.5 m drop onto concrete. The sealed enclosure weighs 145 g and measures 163 mm long, 91 mm deep and 41 mm wide. Operating range reaches 35 cm on suitable codes. The dark-red illumination and twin blue aiming triangles reduce eye strain over a full shift.

Order QD2430-BK as the scanner body only. Interface cable and stand are sold separately. Confirm the correct cable for the host interface before deployment, since the unit ships without one.
