Compact Hybrid Recording Platform for Mixed Camera Fleets

The Dahua XVR5108HS is an eight-channel Penta-brid recorder that accepts HDCVI, AHD, TVI, CVBS and IP video inputs. Eight BNC ports auto-detect the incoming analogue format, so technicians can connect an existing coaxial fleet without reconfiguring each camera. The compact 1U chassis fits a single SATA drive and installs on a desktop or shelf.

The WizSense processor runs embedded Linux and handles analytics on the recorder itself. AcuPick target retrieval covers four analogue channels. Perimeter protection covers eight channels with ten IVS rules per channel, and face recognition runs on two channels against ten databases holding 10,000 images each. SMD Plus filters human and vehicle triggers across eight channels.

Encoding supports AI Coding, Smart H.265+, H.265, Smart H.264+ and H.264 dual-stream at 32 kbps to 6144 kbps. Four IP channels are active by default, and the eight analogue inputs convert to IP for a twelve-channel ceiling at 6 MP per camera. Incoming, recording and outgoing bandwidth each reach 64 Mbps.

One HDMI port outputs 2560 × 1440 and one VGA port outputs 1920 × 1080 for local monitoring. A single 10/100 RJ-45 port carries network traffic. The recorder draws under 7 W without a drive and accepts 12 V DC at 2 A. Operating range spans −10 °C to +55 °C at 10% to 90% relative humidity, non-condensing.

ONVIF 24.12 profiles T, S and G cover third-party IP cameras from Panasonic, Sony, Hanwha, Axis and Arecont. The unit also accepts Wi-Fi cameras, which suits retrofit sites where pulling new cable is impractical. A single RS-485 port drives PTZ control, and two USB 2.0 ports handle mouse input and USB backup.
