Description
Dahua L7 512 GB external SSD overview
Dahua L7 portable SSD provides 512 GB of NVMe-based solid-state storage in an aluminium enclosure for field backups and workstation transfers.
Its USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C interface supports a 10 Gbps link and delivers sequential read speeds up to 1,050 MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 895 MB/s. The drive uses 3D NAND flash and presents a mass-storage device to Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android hosts.
The bus-powered design draws power from the host port and requires no external adapter. A dual Type-C/Type-A cable supports direct connection to modern laptops, desktop front panels, and legacy USB-A ports. The aluminium body spreads heat during sustained transfers and protects the drive during transport. No driver installation is required on supported operating systems.

Works as expected. Nothing flashy but the transfer rates are honest and the build feels durable.

Runs fine plugged into our NVR USB port for scheduled exports. The LED indicator is small but useful for confirming activity. Ran 12 hours of continuous copying without throttling.

We use these for field engineers carrying project archives between sites. The rubberised corners survive the drop or two that happens on site. One unit developed a loose cable fit after about a month, but a different USB-C cable sorted it out. Otherwise solid.

Ordered for our media department and it arrived the next day. Transferred a 40GB footage dump in just under three minutes. Solid metal body, doesn’t feel like it’ll crack if it slips off the desk.

Compact enough to slip into a laptop bag pocket. Delivered quickly and well packaged.

Used the Dahua L7 512GB for a month now, copying large CCTV export files around. Sequential reads over USB 3.2 Gen 2 land close to 500 MB/s on my ThinkPad, and the aluminium shell stays cool even after sustained transfers. No dropouts so far.

Good value for a 512GB portable drive. I was worried the write speeds would be capped but no, sustained writes of large video files hold up well. Only wish it came with a carry case.

I run a small photography side hustle and use this for client deliveries. Fits in my shirt pocket, works on both my MacBook and the office Windows tower without reformatting. Genuine USB 3.2 Gen 2 speed, not the fake Gen 2×1 labelling you see on some drives.
