The Cisco C1121-4P router belongs to the ISR 1100 series built for branch offices that need integrated routing without adding a separate switch. This fixed platform delivers dual Gigabit Ethernet WAN ports, four LAN ports, and one SFP slot for fiber uplinks. Cisco IOS XE runs the control plane, giving network teams a familiar CLI, SNMP monitoring, and policy tools used across the ISR portfolio. The unit routes traffic between WAN circuits and local subnets. It does not perform Layer 2 switching like a Catalyst or Business switch.
Branch sites often require two WAN paths for resilience. Dual GE WAN interfaces support primary and backup links, load sharing, or SD-WAN overlay termination. The SFP slot accepts modules for single-mode or multi-mode fiber when copper runs are impractical. Four integrated LAN ports connect PCs, IP phones, access points, and printers on the local segment. Each port operates at 10/100/1000 Mbps with auto-negotiation.
