Photoelectric sensor for printer media and finisher position detection

The 40X7301 photo sensor is a photoelectric replacement part used in Lexmark printers and finisher units. It detects media presence, paper size and bin clamp position through an optical interruptor circuit. The package includes the sensor and its mounting retainer.

The sensor operates as a transmissive photointerrupter with a digital output. It connects to the machine harness through a keyed connector and requires no calibration after fitting. The retainer clips the sensor into the chassis at the correct gap width for reliable switching.

Compatible platforms include the Lexmark C540, CS310, CS410, CS510, CX410 and CX510 series, plus finisher assemblies such as the 7531 and 0563-ILS. The part also serves as a narrow media sensor and staple finisher tamper position sensor in those units. Replacement restores paper-feed timing and finisher alignment.
