Description

Archer C64

The TP-Link Archer C64 facilitates high-speed wireless connectivity using the 802.11ac Wave 2 protocol. This hardware delivers total bandwidth of 1200 Mbps across two dedicated radio frequencies. The 5 GHz band reaches 867 Mbps for low-latency applications like video conferencing and large file transfers. The 2.4 GHz band provides 400 Mbps to maintain stable connections for IoT devices and mobile hardware. This dual-band configuration optimizes spectrum utilization in environments with high interference.

Integrated 2×2 MU-MIMO technology allows the unit to process data streams for multiple clients simultaneously. Traditional routers often queue data, creating bottlenecks during peak usage. This hardware eliminates those delays by distributing bandwidth more effectively. Four high-performance external antennas extend the signal footprint across the installation area. These antennas utilize Beamforming to detect device locations and direct signal energy toward them. This targeted approach increases link reliability and reduces dead zones.

Security remains a priority with the inclusion of the WPA3 protocol. This standard enhances password encryption and provides stronger protection against localized cyber threats. The device also supports Access Point mode. This allows the hardware to function as a wireless bridge within an existing wired infrastructure. Network administrators can manage settings through the Tether application or the web interface. Compatibility with OneMesh enables the creation of a unified mesh network when paired with compatible range extenders.

The physical interface includes five full Gigabit Ethernet ports. One WAN port connects to the internet source while four LAN ports support high-speed wired devices. These ports ensure that wired workstations and network-attached storage operate at maximum theoretical speeds. Airtime Fairness software prevents legacy 802.11n devices from monopolizing the wireless channel. This ensures newer 802.11ac hardware maintains peak performance levels. The 1.2 GHz CPU processes network traffic efficiently to prevent packet loss under heavy loads.

Smart Connect technology automatically assigns each device to the most suitable frequency band. This balances network load without manual user intervention. A dedicated Guest Network feature isolates visitor traffic from the main local area network. This isolation protects sensitive internal data while providing internet access to external users. The compact chassis design allows for flexible placement on desks or wall mounts. Every component meets strict regulatory standards for electromagnetic interference and operational safety.

  1. Kevin Mwangi (verified owner)

I bought this Archer C64 because my old router was capping my Safaricom fiber speed at 100Mbps. Since this one has full Gigabit ports, I’m finally getting the speeds I pay for on my desktop. Delivery to Westlands was very fast, arrived the same day I ordered. Highly recommended for anyone on a fiber plan.

  2. Sarah Atieno (verified owner)

Good router for a small family. We have about 6 devices connected and the MU-MIMO feature seems to keep the speeds steady even when the kids are on YouTube and I am on a Zoom call. The range is decent for a standard 3-bedroom flat, though the signal drops a bit if you go out to the balcony.

  3. Josphat Njoroge (verified owner)

Best budget gigabit router in Nairobi right now. Build quality is solid and it doesn’t overheat like the cheaper models I’ve used before. Kazi safi.

  4. Fatma Hassan (verified owner)

Using this in my small office along Ngong Road. The dual-band is great because we put the laptops on the 5GHz band for speed and the printer on 2.4GHz. Setup via the TP-Link Tether app was very straightforward, took me less than 10 minutes to get everything running. Good value for money.

  5. Brian Otieno (verified owner)

It works well but the power cable provided in the box is a bit short for where I wanted to mount it high on the wall. I had to use an extension. Otherwise, the performance is stable and the 5GHz band is very fast when you are in the same room.

  6. Mercy Wanjiku (verified owner)

I replaced the standard router from my ISP with this C64. Now I can actually use the 5G band in the bedroom without it dropping. Very happy with the purchase, and the antennas really help with the coverage. Litmus delivered it in perfect condition.

  7. Kevin Omolo (verified owner)

Finally upgraded my home office setup in South B. This Archer C64 is a beast for the price. The Gigabit ports mean I actually get the full speeds from my fiber provider, unlike my old router that was capped at 100Mbps. Signal is strong even through the bedroom walls. Highly recommended for anyone living in a standard stone-walled flat who needs stable internet for Zoom and streaming.

  8. Sarah Wambui (verified owner)

Good router for a small team. We have about 8 devices connected in our Westlands shop and the MU-MIMO really helps keep the connection stable for everyone. Setup was very straightforward using the Tether app on my phone. No more complaints from the staff about the Wi-Fi lagging during the day.

  9. Brian Kipkorir (verified owner)

Ordered yesterday and it arrived today in Nairobi CBD. Very happy with the quick turnaround and the C64 is working perfectly out of the box.

  10. Juma Mohammed (verified owner)

Decent AC1200 router. It’s quite compact so it doesn’t take up much space on the TV stand. The 5GHz band is very fast for streaming Netflix in 4K without buffering. Solid build quality from TP-Link as usual, and much better than the basic ones provided by ISPs.

  11. Mercy Atieno (verified owner)

It’s a good entry-level gigabit router for the house. Speeds are fine when you are in the same room, but I noticed the range drops a bit in the far kitchen area. Still, for this budget, it’s a fair deal compared to the more expensive models.
